ISP is a wellknown as Internet Service Provider. IAP is the synonym for the ISP. IAP stands for Internet Access Provider. ISP is nothing but just a company which allows its customers to access to the internet. There are various forms of ISPs. Such as commercial, community owned, non-profit or else privately owned organization. Services provided by ISPs may vary to each ISPs but most services are as following :
- Internet access
- Internet transit
- Domain name registration
- Web hosting
- Use net service
- Colocation
Internet Service Provider may also provide e-mail accounts to users which allow them to communicate with one another by sending and receiving e-mails through their ISP's server. ISPs are classified into different categories which are as following :
- Access Providers ISPs are the ISPs that allows their users to access to the internet.
- Edge providers create internet content.
- Mailbox providers are the organization that provides services for hosting, e-mail, domain registration with access to storage for mail boxes.
- Hosting ISPs provides the services of hosting.
- Virtual ISP is the operation that purchases services from another ISPs. It is also known as wholesale ISP.
- Free ISPs are that one which provides internet services free of charge.
- Wireless ISPs are the internet service providers with network based on the wireless networking.
