1. Real Time Communication Server:
Real Time Communication Server is also known as Chat Server of IRC. Sometimes it is also known as Instant Messaging Server. This server allows a huge number of users to exchange information instantly.
2. FTP Server:
FTP is one of the oldest internet services available in the market. FTP is known as File Transfer Protocol. FTP allows users to exchange any file of any size between two hosts securely.
3. Collaboration Server:
Collaboration Server demonstrates the original power of the web. Collaboration Software are designed to enable users to collaborate, regardless of location, via the internet or corporate internet and to work together in a virtual atmosphere.
4. List Server:
List Server allows users to better manage their mass mailing lists like open interactive discussion or one way lists to deliver newsletters, announcements and advertising.
5. Telnet Server:
Telnet Server allows users on to a host computer control and work on remote computer.
6.Web Server:
Web Server loads a file on a disk and shares it to the user's computer who requested for the said file. Such exchange of files is made up with the use of HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol).
7. Virtual Server:
Virtual Server is also one type of Web Server which shares its resources to multiple users. It means that multiple websites use the multiple resources of the same server.
8. Proxy Server:
Proxy Server works as an intermediary between client and server i.e. requests made by the client and responds given by the servers. When any client sends request to the server at that time Proxy Server simplifies them and control their complexity.
9. Mail Server:
Mail Server are used to move and store the E-mails over the network such as LAN or WAN or via Internet.
10. Server Platforms:
Server Platforms work in the same context that of Operating System. They are under the hardware and software of a system.
11. Open Source Server:
Open Source Servers are same as Server Platforms. Such servers are used in the IT infrastructure of the companies.
12. Application Server:
Application server is a intermediate between database and app users. It connects database and app users.
